One in Four
One in four. That’s the number of people in the world the World Health Organization (WHO) says will be affected by mental or neurological disorders at some point in their lives.
It’s not easy trying to make sense of the biological storm in your brain when you have depression. Everyone experiences depression differently and I blog in the hope of raising awareness, dissolving the stigma and making it okay to talk about being “not okay”.
The purpose of the blog is to encourage you to keep going.
A key part of managing my own depression has been about accepting we all experience depression differently. Recovery from mental illness doesn’t have a specific timeline, and treatment can take many forms.
Here on the blog we delve into issues such as embracing recovery, and the impact of depression on relationships, work/career, health and wellness, spirituality and lifestyle.

I’ve personally used the Samaritans on a couple of occasions. I cannot tell you what a tremendous difference it made having a calm, professional voice on the other end of the phone when my mind was screaming.
